When he was a sophomore, he started at quarterback for the football team at Mendenhall High School, where he also played. In high school, throughout his junior and senior years, he threw for more than 3,000 passing yards, ran for more than 2,000 yards, and scored a combined 68 touchdowns.
His senior year, he was recognized as second-team All-State. After graduating from high school, he spent a year redshirting at Alcorn State. Before transferring to Prairie View A&M, he spent one season as a wide receiver at Hinds Community College.
He participated in athletics for the Panthers of Prairie View A&M. He caught 104 passes for 1,797 yards and 21 touchdowns over his three seasons with the Panthers. Hodge joined the Los Angeles Rams in July 2018 as an undrafted free agent. After being released by the Rams at the conclusion of training camp in September, he was immediately added to their practice squad.
On September 19, 2018, he received a promotion to the active roster. In September 2019, the Cleveland Browns picked him up off waivers. He participated in each of the 16 Browns contests and caught four passes for 76 yards. In September 2021, the Detroit Lions picked him up off waivers. He inked a contract with the Atlanta Falcons in March 2022.
