Kolten Wong Siblings: Meet Kean Wong and Kiani Wong

Kolten Wong

One of the professional baseball players who plays second base for the Milwaukee Brewers is Kolten Wong, real name Kolten Kaha Wong. Wong was born on October 10, 1990, in Hawaii, United States, to parents Kaha and Keala Wong.

Wong played baseball while attending Kamehameha Hawaii High School in Keaau, Hawaii. He was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 16th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft after completing high school. He ultimately made the decision not to join with the organization and to play college football for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors of the University of Hawaii.

The St. Louis Cardinals chose him in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He made his professional debut that year with the Class A Midwest League’s Quad Cities River Bandits. In 2012, he was promoted to the Class AA Texas League’s Springfield Cardinals. He was chosen by the Cardinals for the All-Star Futures Game in 2012 and participated in the Arizona Fall League over the summer.

On August 16, 2013, he played his first MLB game for the St. Louis Cardinals. Wong and the Cardinals came to an agreement on a five-year contract deal in March 2016. The $25.5 million deal for 2021 included a $12.5 million team option. He signed a $2 million, two-year deal with the Brewers in 2021.
