On January 4, 2021, Wilkerson executed a reserve/future contract. He was released on August 31, 2021, however the next day he joined the practice squad.

Wilkerson was promoted for the Week 17 game against Jacksonville on January 2, 2022, and he scored his first two NFL touchdowns in that contest. On January 17, 2022, he agreed to a reserve/future deal with the Patriots.
