Kurt Suzuki is an American professional baseball catcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played for the Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Washington Nationals. Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball was Suzuki’s team of choice while he was a student at the university.
As part of the CSUF Titans’ 3–2 victory over the Texas Longhorns in the College World Series, in 2003, CSUF competed in its first-ever appearance at the College World Series.
He won the Johnny Bench Award as the best collegiate catcher in the USA that year. Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball also named him an All-American. In addition, he was awarded the Brooks Wallace Award, the first of its kind.
