Offensive guard for the New York Jets of the National Football League, Laken Tomlinson is of Jamaican descent. His height is 1.91 m, and his weight is 143 kg. He was a two-sport star in football and track while attending Lane Technical College Prep High School. In his senior year, he was chosen as an All-State player by the Chicago Tribune and the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association.

Senior year saw him honored as the group’s MVP. From 2010 through 2014, he was a Duke Blue Devils collegiate football player for Duke University. During his collegiate career, he started 52 games as a starter after being elevated to the position his freshman year. The Walter Camp Football Foundation recognized him as an All-American in his senior year (WCFF).

Having won the Anthony J. McKevlin Award in 2015, he was awarded the men’s ACC Athlete of the Year. In the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Detroit Lions. The San Francisco 49ers acquired him in a trade in August of last year. He started the following 15 games at left guard in 2017, after sitting out the first game of the season.

He became a free agent in 2019 after the 49ers decided not to exercise his fifth-year option in May 2018. On June 22, 2018, he did, however, agree to a three-year agreement with the 49ers worth $18 million, with $10 million of that amount guaranteed. He committed to the New York Jets in March 2022, signing a three-year deal.
