Lance McCullers Jr. is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Astros selected McCullers in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2015 and was an All-Star in 2017.

Astros general manager Brian Cashman selected McCullers in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft, 41st overall. In addition to a $2.5 million bonus, he agreed to join the Astros.

In 2013, McCullers pitched for the Class A Midwest League’s Quad Cities River Bandits and won the league’s championship. The Lancaster JetHawks of the Class A-Advanced California League promoted McCullers for the 2014 season.

2014 California League Champion JetHawks defeated Northern Division Champion Visalia Rawhide to claim their title. Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League were McCullers’ first team of the year in 2015.

His promotion to Fresno of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League came on May 14, and he was scheduled to make his major league debut on May 18th, the Astros confirmed later that day.
