Lane Michael Thomas is an American professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. Thomas was born on August 23, 1995, in the United States.

Earlier in his career, he was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. After graduating from Bearden High School, Thomas was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball draft in 2014.

Before being sent to the Cardinals in 2017, he spent the previous four years working his way up through the organization’s minor league system.

He made his debut in Major League Baseball with the team in 2019, but struggled with injuries and was unable to find consistent playing time before he was traded to the Nationals during the 2021 season.

After being traded to the Nationals, he became their starting centre fielder for the 2022 season. In Knoxville, Tennessee, Thomas received his secondary education from Bearden High School.

He made the decision to attend the University of Tennessee for his collegiate baseball career when he was a sophomore. In the summer of 2013,

he was a member of the United States national team that competed in the 18-and-under baseball world cup in Taichung.

He finished his senior year in 2014 with a batting average of.410, 17 home runs, and 40 RBIs.  After completing his senior year of high school, he was selected in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014.
