Lane Michael Thomas, born on August 23, 1995, is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Major League Baseball Washington Nationals (MLB). He was previously with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Thomas was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft out of Bearden High School. Before being traded to the Cardinals in 2017, he spent four years in their minor league system.

He made his Major League Baseball debut with the team in 2019, but he struggled with injuries and was unable to gain consistent playing time until being traded to the Nationals for the 2021 season, when he became the team’s primary center fielder.

Thomas was transferred to the St. Louis Cardinals on July 2, 2017, in return for international signing bonus cap space. He was sent to the Palm Beach Cardinals by St. Louis, although he only participated in nine games due to injury.

Thomas failed not to make the Opening Day roster in 2021. During the 2021 season, he split time between Memphis and St. Louis before being traded. Thomas was traded to the Washington Nationals on July 30, 2021, in exchange for Jon Lester.

Thomas was called up in August 2021 and quickly replaced Victor Robles as the Nationals’ starting center fielder. Thomas slashed in 45 games with Washington. 270/.364/.489 batting line with seven home runs and 27 RBIs.
