On February 3, 2016, he made a commitment to UMass. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Massachusetts where he played college football for the Minutemen squad. In college, he switched positions from defensive end to offensive lineman. During his first year, he redshirted. He participated in all 12 games in 2017, including one start.
He began each of the 12 games he started during the 2018 season at right tackle and each of the 12 games he started at left tackle on the offensive line. The only offensive lineman on the club to start each of the 12 contests was him. In May 2021, he declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, and the Miami Dolphins selected him with the 231st overall pick.
His four-year rookie deal with the Miami Dolphins was inked in May 2021. August 2021 saw him being placed on injured reserve. Coleman was re-signed to the practice squad after being released by the Dolphins in August 2022.
