He attended Western High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he graduated with 238 tackles (171 solo), 30.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles over the course of three seasons.

During his time in college, he played football for the Arizona State Sun Devils. As a true freshman, he took part in all 12 games of the season, starting the final eight. His stat sheet included 44 total tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. Guy had the second-most defensive tackles in the Pac-10 with 44 tackles at the end of the season.

Guy was chosen by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent the entire season on injured reserve. In October 2012, the Green Bay Packers added him to their practice squad for the Indianapolis Colts. The San Diego Chargers took him off waivers in October 2013. On September 24, 2014, the Baltimore Ravens claimed Guy off of waivers.

On March 11, 2017, Guy and the New England Patriots reached an agreement on a four-year, $20 million contract. In his first season with the Patriots, he recorded 58 tackles and 1 sack. In Week 7 of the 2020 season, he registered his first career sack against the San Francisco 49ers. He consented to a $11.5 million, four-year contract extension in March 2021.
