In the NFL, Leo Chenal represents the Kansas City Chiefs as a linebacker. He is 113 kg and 1.91 m tall. For the football squad at Grantsburg High School, he alternated between linebacker and running back. As a senior, he added 226 receiving yards while rushing for 2,038 yards and 42 touchdowns. He also had seven offensive touchdowns, 120 defensive tackles, including seven tackles for loss, and three touchdowns.

He was also named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association’s Defensive Player of the Year and the state’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year. With 1,300 receiving yards and 17 touchdown receptions, he concluded his high school career with 3,706 rushing yards and 68 touchdowns.

Following his high school graduation, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he played collegiate football for the Wisconsin Badgers. He had 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack in his rookie season while playing in 11 games. He ended his sophomore campaign in seven games for Wisconsin’s COVID-19-shortened 2020 season with 46 tackles, six tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception.

As a junior, he earned first-team Big Ten honors and the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award. He made the decision to bypass his senior year and instead declare for the 2022 NFL Draft in January 2022. In the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Chenal.
