Leonard Williams

Leonard Williams plays defensive tackle in professional football for the New York Giants of the National Football League. He weighs 137 kg and is 1.96 meters tall. He finished his high school studies and football career at Mainland High School. With 103 tackles and 10.5 sacks, he helped Mainland reach the FHSAA 6A state playoffs as a senior.

After graduating from high school, he received a four-star rating from Rivals.com. He decided to play collegiate football with the University of Southern California’s USC Trojans. As a true freshman in 2012, he played in just 13 games but recorded 64 tackles, eight sacks, and an interception, winning him the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honor.

After his junior year, he decided that he will forgo his senior year and instead join the 2015 NFL Draft. Williams was chosen by the New York Jets with the sixth overall choice in the first round of the 2015 Draft. In October 2019, he was traded to the New York Giants.

He was included on the active/non-football injury list at the start of training camp in August 2020. He was assigned to work that month. In March 2021, he signed a three-year, $63 million contract with the Giants, which came with a $22.50 million signing bonus and a $45 million guarantee. In order to create additional salary room, the Giants altered Williams’ contract in September 2022.
