He received his diploma from Dutchtown High School, where he was chosen to the District 5-5A first team in 2015 and the second team as a junior in 2014. He played collegiate football for the LSU Tigers football team at Louisiana State University.

As a redshirt freshman, he played in 11 games and started six of them offensively while redshirting his true freshman season. In his 13-game sophomore campaign, he was the Tigers’ starting center and started each game. He was second on the team in offensive snaps with 973 overall.

He played center in all 15 of his games as a junior in 2019, and with 1,037 total snaps, he led the team in efficiency.
