Luis García

Luis Victoriano García is a Dominican American professional baseball infielder for the Major League Baseball Washington Nationals (MLB). He is 6 feet 2 inches tall.

When he signed with the Nationals in 2016, García received a $1.3 million signing bonus, the second-highest paid to an international player in the 2016 class, trailing only fellow Dominican shortstop Yasel Antuna.

Before the 2017 season, Baseball America ranked García as the Nationals’ seventh-best prospect. García made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Nationals in 2017, playing at second base and shortstop and frequently forming the GCL Nationals’ double-play duo alongside Antuna. During their 2017 seasons, both players had batting averages slightly above.300, with García having the higher of the two at.302.

Garcia’s contract was chosen to the major leagues on August 14, 2020, and he made his debut that day against the Baltimore Orioles, stepping up for the injured Starlin Castro.

He became the first MLB player born in the 2000s to hit a home run three days later. Castro, whom he replaced due to injury, was the first MLB player born in the 1990s to hit a home run. Garcia concluded his rookie season with a.276/.302/.366 batting line in 40 games.
