Luke Richard Maile, a professional baseball catcher with the Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Guardians, was born on February 6, 1991. He had previously made appearances for the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Tampa Bay Rays.
Maile played baseball for Covington Catholic High School and the University of Kentucky in amateur competition before entering the professional ranks.
In the 43rd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, the Red Sox picked Maile[4], but he declined their offer of a contract because it was insufficient. Instead, Maile enrolled at the University of Kentucky, where he competed in college baseball for the Kentucky Wildcats squad.
At 272nd overall in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, the Tampa Bay Rays selected Maile in the eighth round. For the whole 2012 campaign, he was a member of the Short Season-A Hudson Valley Renegades.
On April 6, 2017, the Toronto Blue Jays selected Maile off waivers. Following Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s assignment, Maile was recalled from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on April 28.
The Pittsburgh Pirates and Maile agreed to a contract on December 16, 2019. Maile was outright removed from the 40-man roster on OctOn December 8, 2020, Maile agreed to a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Maile made his Brewers debut on April 30, 2021, entering the game as a pinch-runner and remaining there as the catcher.
On March 14, 2022, Maile agreed to a one-year contract with the Cleveland Guardians.
