MacKenzie Gore Parents: Meet Selena Gore and Evan Gore

American pitcher MacKenzie Evan Gore, who plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, was born on February 24, 1999. In 2022, he made his MLB debut.

One of the best prospects for the 2017 Major League Baseball draft was Gore. The San Diego Padres selected him with the third overall pick. On June 23, 2017, he penned a deal as a rookie.

He pitched in seven games for the Arizona League Padres in 2017 while there, recording a 0-1 record, a 1.27 ERA, and a 0.98 WHIP in seven starts. He made 16 starts for the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2018, going 2-5 with a 4.45 ERA.

After the Padres acquired Sean Manaea the weekend before the season began, Gore was not a member of the team’s Opening Day roster and instead began the campaign at Triple-A El Paso. But when Blake Snell was placed on the IL following his debut, Gore was promptly called up.

On April 15, 2022, Gore made his MLB debut by pitching against the Atlanta Braves, the reigning champions. He tossed 5 13 innings, allowing 2 runs and 3 hits.

He hit Braves’ second baseman Ozzie Albies with a 96 mph (154 kph) fastball for his first career strikeout. On April 20, he achieved his first victory.

Even when Snell and Mike Clevinger returned to the Padres, Gore remained with the team, playing in what began as a six-man rotation that was later used on a regular basis by the end of May.
