MacKenzie Evan Gore, an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, was born on February 24, 1999. (MLB). In 2022, he made his MLB debut.
Gore was regarded as one of the most promising prospects in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. The San Diego Padres selected him with the third overall pick. On June 23, 2017, he signed his rookie contract.
In 2017, he pitched in seven games for the Arizona League Padres, posting a 0–1 record, a 1.27 ERA, and a 0.98 WHIP in seven starts. In 16 starts with the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2018, he went 2–5 with a 4.45 ERA.
At the start of 2020, MLB Pipeline rated Gore as the best pitching prospect in minor league baseball and the fifth-best prospect overall. He did not play a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gore began the 2021 season with the El Paso Chihuahuas but was placed on the injured list after compiling a 5.85 ERA over six starts to go along with a lingering blister and various mechanical issues.
Gore made three rehab appearances before he was assigned to the San Antonio Missions with whom he threw eight innings in which he walked nine, struck out 16, and gave up three earned runs. He ended the season being ranked the 56th overall best prospect in baseball and the fourth-best left-handed pitching prospect.
Gore made his MLB debut on April 15, 2022, pitching against the defending champion Atlanta Braves. He threw 5+1⁄3 innings while giving up 3 hits and 2 runs.
