Malcolm Terel Butler is a cornerback who plays American football and is a free agent. His first four seasons were spent with the Patriots, who in 2014 signed him as an undrafted free agent. He spent three seasons playing for the Tennessee Titans after departing from the New England Patriots. Butler left the Patriots before the 2021 season but joined them again the same year.
Butler, who played for the Patriots and was a two-time Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowl pick, is best known for his goal-line interception in the waning seconds of Super Bowl XLIX. Considered one of the greatest plays in NFL history, the interception stopped a potential game-winning score and effectively gave the Patriots the victory.
Butler has four siblings and was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In 2009, he received his high school diploma from Vicksburg. He made an average of five tackles per game as a senior. Butler was only a football player at Vicksburg for his freshman and senior years, but he still received a scholarship at Raymond, Mississippi’s Hinds Community College.
