The Kansas City Chiefs opted to take a chance on him and sign him as an undrafted free agent in 2021 after he played college football at Georgia.

In the Georgian city of Forsyth on November 9, 1997, Malik Herring made his entrance into the world. He had interest from more than twenty other schools, but he ultimately chose to enrol on Georgia.



Herring played in all 15 games as a freshman in 2017, recording seven tackles for the year. He participated in 14 different games for Georgia the next season, and at the conclusion of the campaign,

he was given the prize for the defensive player who had progressed the most. The Kansas City Chiefs chose to take a chance on Herring and sign him as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NFL Draft saw him go undrafted.

He was recovering from a damaged anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that he incurred while taking part in practices for the college football Senior Bowl, therefore he was put on the reserve/non-football injury list to start the new season.

Herring was given a berth on the Chiefs’ final 2022 roster as the sixth defensive end. He played his first game in week three of the NFL season, a 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and made his debut with two tackles.
