Michael Jefferson is an American football linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football in Texas.
Jefferson, who was born and raised in Mesquite, Texas, had his high school education at Poteet, where he participated in the sports of football, baseball, and track and field.
In 2012, while Jefferson was a sophomore and playing defensive back, he recorded 105 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles, and four blocked kicks. He also blocked four kicks.
As a result of Jefferson’s contributions to Poteet’s 11–3 record, which included a 5–2 district record and a spot in the UIL playoffs, he was recognized as the Sophomore of the Year in District 10–4A and was named to the first team of All-Area by the Dallas Morning News.
Poteet made it all the way to the quarterfinals of the 4A Division 2 tournament, however, they were eliminated by Daeshon Hall’s Lancaster by a score of 21–13.
