Before the 2022 NFL draft, the New York Jets are keeping themselves busy.
According to Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus, on April 21 they welcomed former San Francisco 49ers defensive back Marcell Harris for a visit.
Sometime later, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo revealed that they had indeed signed Harris to a contract.
After being selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft, he made his professional debut that year at No. 184.
He was highlighted as a thumper and a coverage safety during his tenure at the University of Florida.
Harris entered the 2018 draft while nursing an Achilles ailment that had prevented him from playing in his last season in 2017.
He has appeared in over 52 games over the past four years with the 49ers, with 20 of those serving as starts. Harris was mostly a safety, although he also saw time as a linebacker in the NFL.
From 2018 to 2020, when Robert Saleh was the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, the brilliant defender worked with Saleh, who is now the head coach of the New York Jets.
