Jones, a three-star recruit out of high school, started his college career at Troy and had a significant effect right away despite only playing defense in 10 of his 24 games from the start.

In addition to his four combined interceptions, one of which was returned for a score, Jones made a name for himself as a dynamic return man by scoring four kickoff returns in 2017 and 2018. Furthermore, he even caught five passes that were attempted.

Soon after joining the Patriots through the draft, Jones agreed to a typical four-year rookie deal. He will be listed on the team’s books with a salary cap figure of $941,264 this season as part of the $5.18 million agreement.

Currently, though, the NFL’s Top-51 rule only counts the proration of his fully guaranteed $236,264 signing bonus. Meanwhile, the $705,000 non-guaranteed pay will only be added to the equation if he plays for the team throughout the regular season.
