Mark David Canha was born on February 15, 1989, he is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the Major League Baseball New York Mets (MLB).



He formerly played for the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball. Canha made his Major League Baseball debut in 2015.

In San Jose, California, Canha attended Bellarmine College Preparatory. In his senior year of 2007, he batted.440 with 11 home runs. He attended the University of California, Berkeley after graduating from high school, where he played collegiate baseball for the California Golden Bears.



In 2009, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Brewster Whitecaps. In 54 games during his junior year, he hit.319 with ten home runs and 69 runs batted in (RBIs).

Canha was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Florida Marlins following the season. He played for the New Orleans Zephyrs of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League in 2014.

He signed a two-year, $26.5 million contract with the New York Mets on November 30, 2021, with a third-year option.

Marci, Canha’s wife, is a San Jose-born architect. During the season, they live in San Francisco and spend their offseasons in Arizona. Canha is of Portuguese descent.
