Marquis Hayes participates in professional football for the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals squad. He represents the Cardinals as an offensive guard. He is 147 kg heavy and 1.96 meters tall. During his junior and senior years, he played football for the Pattonville High School squad in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

He chose Oklahoma over offers from other universities to play college football since he was a four-star prospect right out of high school. From 2017 to 2021, he played collegiate football for the Oklahoma Sooners. His true freshman year at Oklahoma was spent redshirting. He participated in three games as a backup offensive tackle as a redshirt freshman in 2018.

He switched from being the Sooners’ backup left guard in the 2019 football season and started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games. He switched to right guard and started 11 games when COVID-19 ended the 2020 Sooners’ season. As a redshirt senior, he started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games while moving back to left guard.

Once the season was over, he declared that he would take part in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hayes was taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2022 Draft as the 257th overall pick. He was placed on injured reserve at midnight on August 30, 2022.
