A professional football player with the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals, Marquis Hayes is currently a member of the team. For the Cardinals, he fills the role of offensive guard. At 1.96 meters tall and 147 kilograms, he is also quite tall. During his junior and senior years of high school, he played football for the Maryland Heights, Missouri-based Pattonville High School.
He accepted Oklahoma’s offer to play college football despite receiving offers from other universities. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. Between 2017 to 2021, he competed in collegiate football for the Oklahoma Sooners. A true freshman at Oklahoma, he redshirted that year. He participated in three games as a backup offensive tackle in 2018 while being a redshirt freshman.
As a redshirt sophomore in the 2019 football season, he switched from being the Sooners’ backup left guard and started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games. He switched to right guard and started 11 games for the 2020 Sooners before COVID-19 ended their season. As a senior redshirt who switched back to left guard, he started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games.
Upon the conclusion of the season, he declared that he would be taking part in the NFL Draft in 2022. Hayes was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2022 Draft as the 257th overall pick. He was placed on injured reserve at 00:00 on August 30, 2022.
