Mason Thompson whose real name is Mason Lane Thomson is an American professional baseball pitcher who was born on February 20, 1998, in Round Rock, Texas, in the United States. Mason plays for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball and also previously played for the San Diego Padres.

His early days began at Round Rock High School in Texas. In high school, he was reported to have undergone a Tommy John surgery when he was in his junior year and made only one inning when he was a senior. The San Diego Padres selected him in the third round of the 85th overall draft selection.

After signing with the San Diego Padres where he commenced his professional career, he made his first appearance with the Arizona League Padres. In a nutshell, after a period of minor league games with them, he was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on June 20, 2021. He then made his first appearance on June 22.

Mason Thompson then joined the Washington Nationals on July 30, 2021. Signing was as a result he was traded to the Washington Nationals in exchange for one Daniel Hudson. He had his activation the following day as well making his debut on August 2.
