American football punter Matt Araiza, also known as Matthew Ryan Araiza, plays for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He is 1.85 meters tall and weighs 91 kilos. He was created on May 16, 2000, in San Diego, California, in the US. He played football in high school at Rancho Bernardo.
As a placekicker, he was twice named to the All-America team and had a success rate of 37 field goals. After high school, he declined scholarships from Montana and UMass to play college football for the San Diego State Aztecs at San Diego State University. He worked in San Diego from 2018 to 2021. He redshirted in his true freshman year.
He took over as the team’s placekicker as a redshirt freshman. He was given honorable mention All-Mountain West after making 22 field goals in 26 attempts to set a school record. Along with his kicking responsibilities, he started the Aztecs’ redshirt junior season as their starting punter. Midway through the season, ESPN named him an All-American.
For becoming the top punter in the nation, he was given the Ray Guy Award. After the 2021 season, Araiza indicated he would enter the 2022 NFL Draft without playing in his last season of eligibility. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
