Matthew Aurel Brash is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Seattle Mariners. In 2022, he made his MLB debut.

Brash went to Kingston, Ontario’s Bayridge Secondary School. He went to Niagara University in Lewiston, New York to play collegiate baseball for the Purple Eagles after going undrafted out of high school in 2016.

He was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres.

Brash debuted professionally in 2019, pitching for the Arizona League Padres and the Fort Wayne TinCaps, combining for a 1.69 ERA in 5+13 innings.

Brash did not play in 2020 since the Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Brash was transferred to the Seattle Mariners as the player to be named later in a previous transaction for Taylor Williams on September 17, 2020.

Brash pitched for the Everett AquaSox and the Arkansas Travelers in the 2021 season, finishing 6–4 with a 2.31 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 97+13 innings.

Brash’s contract was added to the 40-man roster on September 28, 2021, and he was promoted to the major leagues for the first time, although he did not appear.

The Mariners announced on April 2, 2022, that Brash would be the team’s fifth starter in the rotation. On April 12th, he made his MLB debut.
