Matt Bush is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the San Diego Padres as the first overall draft pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball draft.
Before making his Major League debut on May 13, 2016, Bush had only reached Double-A due to a slew of personal and legal issues.
In 2009, he was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the San Diego Padres, however, he never played for the team.
Afterward, he was a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization but was discharged following a DUI incident in 2012.
The allegations against him stemming from that incident were dropped, and he was sentenced to 51 months in jail in December 2012.
After serving 39 months in prison, he got a contract with the Texas Rangers.
