Matt Carpenter

Matt Carpenter, full name Matthew Martin Lee Carpenter is an American-born professional baseball player. He plays as an infielder for the New York Yankees baseball team. He was born on November 26, 1985, in Galveston, Texas in the United States of America to Rick Carpenter and Tammie Carpenter.

Matt played baseball in high school at Elkins High School. After he completed high school, he enrolled at Texas Christian University (TCU) and played college baseball. At the University, he majored in communications. During the 2009 MLB draft, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the draft.

He made his professional debut that season with various A-level teams, including the Batavia Muckdogs, Quad Cities River Bandits, and the Palm Beach Cardinals. The Cardinals promoted him to the major leagues in 2011 and he made his MLB debut on June 4, 2011. In March 2014, the Cardinals signed him on a six-year contract extension worth $52 million.

The Texas Rangers signed Matt in March 2022 on a minor-league contract. The contract included an invitation to their major-league spring training. In May 2022, the New York Yankees signed him to a major-league contract.
