The baseball player Matt Chapman, real name Matthew James Chapman, was born in the United States and is best known for playing with the Toronto Blue Jays.

He was born on April 28, 1993, to Jim and Lisa Chapman in Victorville, California, in the United States. At Toro High School in Lake Forest, California, he played baseball. He attended California State University, Fullerton and played collegiate baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans after going undrafted out of high school in the 2011 MLB draft.

In the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft, he was selected by the Oakland Athletics. The next year, he signed a contract with them, and with the Rookie-level Arizona League Athletics, he made his professional debut. He was elevated to the Class-A Beloit Snappers this season. He was forced to run for the Class A Advanced Stockton Ports in 2015.
