In 2013, Haack graduated from Dowling Catholic High School. Rivals.com ranked him as the nation’s No. 15 kicker and the state of Iowa’s No. 10 overall recruit. On September 14, 2018, Haack was honored into the Dowling Catholic High School/St. Joseph Academy Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding high school career.

From 2013 until 2016, Haack attended and played collegiate football for Arizona State. He shared punting duties with Alex Garoutte, Dom Vizzare, and Taylor Kelly during the 2013 season. He has 16 punts for 612 net yards and a 38.3 average.



During the 2014 season, he handled the majority of the punting duties, with Taylor Kelly and Mike Bercovici doing the rest. He had 53 punts for 2,296 net yards and a 43.3 average. In 2015, he handled all but three punts, which were handled by Bercovici.

He had 74 punts for 3,186 net yards and a 43.1 average. In 2015, he finished fifth nationally and fourth in the Pac-12 with a punt average of 43.1 yards. In 2016, he handled all of the team’s punts save three, which were handled by teammate Manny Wilkins. He punted 66 times for 2,897 net yards and a 44.4 average.
