Moore chose to sign a professional deal with the Rays rather than play collegiate baseball at the University of New Mexico, even though he had agreed to do so.

Before he made his major league debut in 2011, he established numerous strikeout records in the Rays’ farm system.

Prior to Tommy John’s surgery, Moore played for the Rays for two full seasons. When he returned to the field in 2015, he was traded to the New York Giants.

Moore was traded to the Rangers in the 2018 offseason after a poor season with the Giants in which he surrendered the most earned runs in the National League.

With the Rangers, his earned run average (ERA) remained high, so he was moved to the bullpen to work on his pitching mechanics.

When the Tigers signed Moore to a one-year contract in 2019, they were expecting a rebound season, but he only played two games before injuring his knee.
