Matt Thaiss is an American professional baseball catcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2019.
Thaiss was signed by the Angels and assigned to the Orem Owlz, a minor league affiliate. Orem moved him to the Burlington Bees, where he hit.276 with four home runs, 31 RBIs, and a.778 OPS in 52 games after hitting.338 in 15 games. At the conclusion of the 2016 season, he was the Angels’ top prospect.
Both the Inland Empire 66ers and the Mobile BayBears had Thaiss on their rosters in 2017, where she posted an average of.274 with nine home runs and 73 RBIs in 133 games, and in 2018 with the Salt Lake Bees, where she posted a combined of.280/.335/.467 with 16 home runs and 76 RBIs in 125 games between the two teams. He started the new year in Salt Lake City.
They selected his contract on July 3, 2019 and elevated him to the big-league level.
