Vierling was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He was assigned to the short-season Williamsport Crosscutters after joining with the team.

Vierling was promoted to the Class A Lakewood Blue Claws after hitting.420 in 12 games. He spent the 2019 season with the Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League’s Class A-Advanced division.

Vierling did not appear in a game in 2020 since the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Vierling was assigned to the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils to begin the minor league season after beginning the 2021 season at the Phillies’ alternate training location.

After hitting .345 with six home runs and 16 RBIs in 24 games with Reading, he was promoted to the Class AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Vierling was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on June 19, 2021, when he was named to the 40-man roster.

As a pinch hitter, he made his Major League debut that day, hitting a single to right field in his first at-bat against San Francisco Giants reliever Jarlin Garcia while also stealing second base and scoring a run.

On September 25, 2021, in a 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, he blasted his first Major League home run.

He had the fastest sprint speed of all big league first basemen in 2021, clocking in at 29.2 feet per second.
