While Castro debuted in the Major Leagues in April and is currently raking for the Double-A Altoona Curve, Kranick has fallen out of favor with Pirates fans.

Castro joined Kranick in Altoona to begin the season. However, he debuted with the Indianapolis Indians at Triple-A on Tuesday night. For the hard-throwing Kranick, it was a successful debut.

Kranick has made three starts with Double-A Altoona before being promoted to Triple-A. Kranick had a 4.02 ERA, 3.63 FIP, 3.2 percent walk rate, and 25.8 percent strikeout rate in three starts.

He let up two home runs in in three starts, giving him a 1.15 HR/9.

Kranick showed why the Pittsburgh Pirates felt the need to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this offseason in his Triple-A debut on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old Kranick has proven why he is on the verge of making the Major Leagues.

Kranick made his Triple-A debut with the Indians, pitching 5 innings and surrendering 1 run on 4 hits, no walks, no home runs, and 6 strikeouts.

Kranick’s Triple-A debut was undoubtedly noteworthy.

Kranick currently has possession of the ball. He could reach the Majors before the end of the 2021 season if he keeps pitching well for the Indianapolis Indians.

Even if he doesn’t, he’ll be in good shape to compete for a roster place in 2022.

With the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kranick possesses all of the necessary talents to make an impact. According to FanGraphs, he boasts a power fastball and a slider with a 45 future value. Kranick also has an above-average cutter.
