For the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League, Maxx Williams plays tight end professionally. He is 1.93 m tall and 114 kg in weight. He attended Waconia High School, where he participated in high school football. He attended the University of Minnesota after high school and played collegiate football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers squad.
In 2013, he started seven of the 13 games as a redshirt freshman after redshirting his first year at the university. He finished the season with 25 receptions for 417 yards and five touchdowns. He recorded 36 receptions for 569 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore.
Following his redshirt sophomore season, Williams decided to forego his junior and senior years in favor of signing with the NFL in 2015. During the 2015 NFL Draft’s second round, the Baltimore Ravens selected him. In May 2015, he signed a $4.05 million, four-year contract with the Ravens. In May 2019, he became a member of the Arizona Cardinals. For the 2021 season, he began playing as the Cardinals’ tight end.
In Week 5, he suffered an ACL tear, which resulted in being placed on season-ending injured reserve. He had a solid season, with 16 receptions for 193 yards and one receiving touchdown. In March 2022, Williams renewed his one-year contract with the Cardinals. October 7, 2022, saw his freedom. He was signed to the practice squad three days later.
