In the National Football League, Melvin Gordon represents the Denver Broncos as a running back. The man is 98 kg and 1.85 meters tall. He attended Bradford High School, where as a junior, he rushed for just 99 yards while racking up 1,098 yards and 11 touchdowns. His five receiving touchdowns earned him honorable mention All-state and All-Region status from the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA).
His 2,009 running yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior earned him first-team All-state honors from the WFCA and Associated Press. He played NCAA football for the Wisconsin Badgers while still a student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
In his three games as a freshman in 2011, he ran for 98 yards on 20 attempts and scored a touchdown. He waived his last year of college eligibility in 2015 and declared for the NFL Draft. He carried for 251 yards in his final college game. With the 15th overall choice in the 2015 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers selected Gordon in the first round. He committed to the Denver Broncos in March 2020 to a two-year, $16 million deal.
He played against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 to make his Broncos debut. He ran for 78 yards and a rushing touchdown on 15 attempts throughout the contest. Gordon re-signed on an annual basis with the Broncos on April 27, 2022.
