Micah Parsons started his career in high school. Initially, he attended Central Dauphin High School for his freshman and sophomore then went on to Harrisburg High School.

According to 247Sports.com and ESPN, Parsons was rated as a five-star prospect and was ranked #4 in his class. A number of schools, including Nebraska, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Alabama, and Penn State, showed interest in Parsons as a recruit.

It was reported on December 19 that Ohio State had broken NCAA rules by allowing a Parsons to visit the set of ESPN’s College GameDay and pose for a photo with analyst Kirk Herbstreit.

Herbstreit was a former quarterback for Ohio State University, and as such, it was against NCAA regulations for recruiters to interact with former student-athletes related media. As a direct consequence of this, Ohio State conceded that they will no longer recruit Parsons.

Parsons accepted a football scholarship from Penn State University after just four games of his freshman season.

He initially pledged in the spring of 2016, decommitted for a spell, and then renewed his commitment on December 20, 2017. He left Harrisburg High School seven months early in order to hasten the enrolling procedure
