Michael Carter is a running back for the New York Jets of the National Football League.  His college football career was spent in North Carolina, where he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels football team.

Carter spent his childhood in Navarre, Florida, where he also received his high school education. As a junior, he played in three games before suffering an injury that ended his season. During those three games, he carried for 526 yards and nine touchdowns.

Carter rushed for 2,536 yards and accumulated 3,345 all-purpose yards and 45 total touchdowns during his senior season. As a result of his outstanding performance, USA Today recognized Carter as the Florida Offensive Player of the Year.

Carter selected North Carolina as his collegiate football destination despite offers from Florida, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Tennessee.

During his first season as a true freshman, Carter ran for 559 yards on 97 attempts and scored eight touchdowns.

Carter ran the ball 84 times for a total of 597 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore, in addition to catching 25 catches for 135 yards and another touchdown.

He was nominated to the third team after finishing his junior year having run for 1,003 yards and scoring three touchdowns, as well as having 21 receptions for 154 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Conference of the Whole Atlantic Coast (ACC)
