Michael King is an American baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of the Major League Baseball. Michael McRae King as he was named at birth was born on May 25 1995 in Rochester, New York, the United States of America.
He gained his high school education at the Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island where he played for the school’s baseball team as a pitcher and an outfielder. He was later named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Rhode Island in 2013.
He entered Boston College after graduating from Bishop Hendriksen High School in 2013. He was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 12th round of the 2016 Major League Draft and made his professional debut with the GCL Marlins. He was assigned to play with the Batavia Muckdogs and Greensboro Grasshoppers.
The Marlins traded King and international signing bonus money to the New York Yankees for Caleb Smith and Garrett Cooper after the 2017 season.
He began the 2018 season with the Class A-Advanced Florida State League’s Tampa Tarpons, then received midseason promotions to the Class AA Eastern League’s Trenton Thunder and the Class AAA International League’s Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
On September 19, 2019, Michael King was later promoted to the major leagues by the New York Yankees and made his league debut on September 27 against the Texas Rangers.
