Michel Báez Cruz is a Major League Baseball pitcher from Cuba who currently plays for the San Diego Padres.



In 2014/2015, Báez played in the Cuban National Series for the Vegueros de Pinar del Rio and the Huracanes de Mayabeque.

In December 2016, he signed as an international free agent with the San Diego Padres for $3 million.



Báez made his debut in 2017 with the Arizona League Padres. Additionally, he was named a starting pitcher on the 2017 Yahoo Sports All-Minor League Team with Honorable Mention.

Prior to the 2018 season, Baez was listed as the No. 7 prospect by MLB.com for the Padres.

He played for the Lake Elsinore Storm and the San Antonio Missions in 2018 and had a combined 21 starts for both clubs, posting records of 4-10 and 3.69 ERA.
