Michael Anthony Clevinger, an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, was born on December 21, 1990. He is 6 feet 4 inches tall.

Clevinger was drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He pitched for the rookie-level Orem Owlz in 2011 before being promoted to the Cedar Rapids Kernels the following year, when he appeared in eight games. As a result of elbow reconstructive surgery, he only pitched in three games in 2013.

The Indians summoned Clevinger up on May 18, 2016, and he made his main league debut that night.After three starts, he was demoted to the minors and spent the next three months with the Columbus Clippers. Clevinger concluded his time with Columbus with a 3.00 ERA and 11 victories. On August 4, 2016, he was called back up to start against the Minnesota Twins.

On August 31, 2020, the Indians traded Clevinger, along with Greg Allen and Matt Waldron to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Austin Hedges, Josh Naylor, Cal Quantrill, and minor league players Gabriel Arias, Owen Miller, and Joey Cantillo.

On November 15, 2020, a 2-year contract extension was agreed upon by Clevinger and the Padres, with annual salaries of $2 million in 2021 and $6.5 million in 2022, with a $3 million signing bonus. On the same day, it was announced that Clevinger would need to undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the 2021 season. On February 18, 2021, Clevinger was placed on the 60-day injured list as he continued to recover from Tommy John surgery.
