He played football for the Explorers team while attending Marquette Catholic High School. He received first-team all-conference honors on attack and defense as a senior.
He ran for 1,614 yards and 28 touchdowns, earning him a spot on the All-State running back team. In addition, he recorded 69 defensive tackles, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions, and five more touchdowns on returns. After graduating from high school, he attended at Southeast Missouri State University where he played collegiate football for the Redhawks.
He redshirted his true freshman year and played wide receiver as a redshirt freshman. He recorded 44 tackles, five interceptions, and seven pass breakups as a redshirt sophomore, earning second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. He had 32 tackles as a redshirt senior and had two sacks, an interception, and 14 passes broken up.
On April 28, 2018, Ford agreed to a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions. The Lions released him in August 2021. He was picked up off waivers by the Denver Broncos in September 2021. In October 2021, he was put on injured reserve. On November 6, 2021, he was made active. Ford and the Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms of a partnership in April 2022.
