In the end, he chose to accept a scholarship from the nearby University of South Florida (USF) over offers from schools including Arizona, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, and West Virginia. For the University’s South Florida Bulls football squad, he participated in collegiate football.
