Trout was born on August 7, 1991, in Vineland, New Jersey, to Jeff and Debbie (Busonick) Trout. He was raised in close-by Millville, New Jersey along with his two older siblings; Teal, a sister, and Tyler, a brother.

Trout started out as a baseball player in the Babe Ruth League’s Cal Ripken Baseball division. The shortstop was his primary position when he was a young baseball player.



He wore No. 2 in homage to Derek Jeter, the shortstop for the New York Yankees, who was his childhood idol. In high school, he would change to number one. Mike graduated from Millville Senior High School in 2009 after attending Lakeside Middle School

Trout has been selected to nine MLB All-Star games, has won the Silver Slugger Award eight times, and has been named the American League’s (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times (in 2014, 2016, and 2019). Trout has also been selected to nine MLB All-Star games.

Trout was chosen by the Angels in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He made one minor league appearance in 2011 before joining the Angels as a regular player the following year. He was unanimously awarded the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year Award.

On July 8, 2011, the Los Angeles Angels promoted Trout to center field to take the place of injured Peter Bourjos. That evening, he made his major league debut and went 0 for 3.
