Mitchell Evan Haniger is an American professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. Haniger was born on December 23, 1990.

Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Haniger was selected in the supplementary portion of the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, and the team immediately signed him after making him a college All-American the same year.

While he was still a minor league prospect in 2014, he was acquired by the Diamondbacks in a trade. In 2016, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Diamondbacks.

The New York Mets used their pick in the 31st round of the 2009 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft to choose Haniger. Instead, he decided to enroll at Cal Poly, where he was able to participate in both collegiate baseball and football.

After playing in his first season with the Mustangs, Haniger was honoured with the Big West Conference’s Freshman of the Year award in 2010.

Following the 2010 summer schedule, Baseball America ranked Mitch Haniger as the No. 5 pro prospect after his rookie year at Cal Poly.

Wood’s bat season saw Haniger play for the West Coast League’s Corvallis Knights and Northwoods League team the Green Bay Bullfrogs.

As a member of the Big West Conference in 2012, Haniger was the league leader in home runs and slugging percentage. This year he was voted Big West Player of the Year and an All-American for his outstanding performance this season.
