Nathan Daniel Shepherd is a Canadian defensive tackle who plays professional American football for the New York Jets of the National Football League. Shepherd attended Fort Hays State and Simon Fraser during his collegiate football playing careers.
Shepherd spent his first year at Simon Fraser University as a defensive end on the bench, but in his second year, he was able to break into the starting lineup and play in every game. Because he was no longer able to afford the tuition, he decided to withdraw from the institution after having attended for a total of two years.
When Shepherd left Simon Fraser University, he pursued a career in a variety of fields, including the building of electrical systems, working in a plant nursery, and manufacturing cardboard boxes.
Later on, Fort Hays State University made contact with Shepherd, and as a result, Shepherd was able to pay his tuition for the first semester of his enrollment at the university before being awarded an athletic scholarship.
Shepherd was honored as the most outstanding defensive player in the MIAA after the conclusion of the 2017 season. Additionally, he was given an invitation to participate in the 2018 Senior Bowl.
