Webb confesses he was “nervous” because if he hadn’t been selected, he would have been eligible for a Rule 5 draft pick by another team.

Webb says he’s heard from most of the guys he’s played with since the Royals announced their 40-man roster on Friday, Nov. 19. “Many of them have expressed their congratulations.”

Webb began his career with the Kansas City Royals after being picked in the 34th round of the 2016 MLB draft by his hometown franchise.

The 6’2″ 215-pound right-hander spent the 2021 season with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the High A Midwest League. Webb was a member of the pitching staff that led the River Bandits to the Midwest League title.

Due to the ongoing MLB lockout, Webb has yet to receive a spring training report date. Players are not permitted to train at the Surprise, Arizona training center, so they must work out whenever and wherever they can.
