Nicholas Ryan Allen (born October 8, 1998) is an Oakland Athletics professional baseball shortstop and second baseman (MLB). In 2022, he made his MLB debut.
Baseball was an important part of Allen’s education at Francis Parker School, which was located in San Diego, California.
While he was still a freshman, he decided that he wanted to play baseball at the University of Southern California when he went to college.
In 2016, he was a junior and posted a slash line of.469/.570/.816. During his senior season in 2017, Allen had a batting average of.297. He hit two home runs, ten doubles, and stole 23 bases.
During his time at the high school level, he had a fielding percentage of.963 overall. Following his senior year, he was chosen in the third round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Oakland Athletics.
He signed for $2 million. He was selected to the Class A Midwest League All-Star team for his work with the Beloit Snappers last year. Three home runs, 25 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 72 games in 2019 slashed.293/.363/.434.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he played for the Midland RockHounds and Las Vegas Aviators in 2020 before being placed on inactive duty twice.
It was announced that Oakland had picked Allen’s contract on November 19, 2021, and he has since been added to the team’s active roster. First-team All-Star second baseman the next day versus the Seattle Mariners.
